I’m Hadley, an Editorial Designer based in Chicago, and I work with publishers, magazines, and authors (like you!) to create stylish and accessible books through interior design, cover design, typesetting, ebook conversion, and print management.
I create tailored work that’s specific to your project—no templates, all custom!
I love molding and shaping every project’s unique style—and always with readability, accessibility, and the reader experience in mind.
My Approach

I want you to love your book, so I take the time to get to know you and your project before jumping into design.
I want to understand your goals, how you want readers to feel, and what matters most to you.
I consider your style, budget, readability, and accessibility in every decision, from margin widths and typography to special finishes and bindings.
With experience across multiple parts of the publishing process—from design and typesetting to ebook conversion and print management—I value efficient end-to-end workflows and clear communication.
Even when I’m only supporting one part of a project, I’m always thinking about how the larger process can stay organized and run smoothly.
I keep an eye out for potential production issues even if it’s “not my job.” If I see a potential issue, I’ll say something. So, if I’m only working on your typesetting but notice an out of gamut color or a missing swatch, don’t fret—I’ll flag it for you! (-:
Fun Facts
Here's some fun little facts about me...
- I love all things 80s, including New Order, square bangle bracelets, and funky color combinations.
- I’m Danish and would love to move to Denmark (my dad moved to the US when he was quite young and never taught me the language—so I don’t have the cool Danish accent unfortunately).
- I worked at Reckless Records on Belmont during my first year in Chicago (and really enjoyed it—my little High Fidelity moment).
- I color-code everything, love Notion databases, and am a huge nerd when it comes to organizing and project management.
- I named my cat after Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
