Year 2025
Stephen V. Peters is a social scientist, and The Momentum List is about building up your momentum, persevering, and focusing on what matters most to you. Stephen had a great foundation for what he wanted his interior to look like, having pull quotes and graphics already designed and ready for me. I helped him execute his vision and crafted an interior that was a perfect fit for his book.
Stephen already had his cover designed and we wanted to retain consistency between the cover and the interior. I used the same fonts on the cover in the interior to maintain consistency.
His book was very short, so I used a variety of design and typesetting techniques, including placing pull quotes on their own pages, to contribute to a thicker book, while making effective use of negative space and creating to a visually satisfying experience for the reader.
I also used arrows for his bullet points to further build that connection to “momentum.”
Many chapters open differently—some with epigraphs, some with subheadings, some with only a chapter title. The design had to work for all of these instances. I chose to use numerals for chapter numbers to create more space on the page, and I positioned the elements asymmetrically to guide the readers eye and create movement (or “momentum”).
